Dentures Overview

Dentures are a good option if you need a replacement for missing teeth. Removable dentures can renew the appearance of your smile and make it easier to speak and eat with full confidence. Dentist Dr. Kathy Jacobsen can provide either full or partial removable dentures for patients in Gilbert, AZ. Full dentures can replace all the teeth in your upper arch, lower arch or both, while partial dentures leave some of your natural teeth to act as support. At Contemporary Dentistry, we will help you decide whether full or partial dentures are best for your needs and then have them custom-made to look natural. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Jacobsen to learn more about dentures.

Partial Denture Options

Our practice is proud to offer partial denture solutions in addition to full and implant-retained dentures. Partial denture options include:

Traditional Partial Dentures – For patients who have teeth remaining, which can be used to support the partial, traditional partial dentures are an affordable and discreet tooth replacement option.

Valplast® Flexible Partial Dentures – Valplast flexible partial dentures are functional, comfortable, and convenient and do not utilize the visible metal clasps often associated with traditional partials.

Our dental facility is committed to providing patients with the options they deserve to promote their dental health and self-confidence. To learn more about your denture options, please contact our practice to schedule your consultation.

Best Candidates for Dentures

You may be an ideal candidate for dentures if you have suffered the loss of many teeth, but you still have healthy gums and a strong jawbone. You may still have some natural teeth and these may either be extracted for a full denture or kept with a partial denture. During your consultation with Dr. Jacobsen, she will examine your mouth and discuss your options based on your needs and budget.

What To Expect from Dentures

If needed, Dr. Jacobsen will extract any teeth before taking oral impressions that will be used to make your custom dentures. Partial dentures will be shaded to match your natural teeth for a seamless appearance. Once your dentures are crafted, Dr. Jacobsen will adjust the fit so they are comfortable and secure. She will also go over the best way to care for your new dentures.

Follow-Up for Dentures

It may take some time before your new dentures feel comfortable and natural, but eventually it should be easier to eat and speak normally. If your dentures feel loose, return to our office to have your dentures re-adjusted. At home, you will need to keep your dentures clean by brushing them twice a day. When you remove your dentures, they should be soaked so they don't dry out. Continue to schedule exams and cleanings at Contemporary Dentistry so Dr. Jacobsen can check the wear and fit of your dentures and the health of your jaw and gums. She will let you know if you need to have your dentures repaired or replaced but with proper care, your dentures should last for many years.

Insurance Coverage for Dentures

If you have dental insurance, part of the cost of your dentures will typically be covered. Our office will contact your insurance company to determine your exact coverage and out-of-pocket expenses. During your consultation with Dr. Jacobsen, she will customize your treatment plan so your dentures fit both your needs and budget. To help make your denture affordable, whether you have dental insurance or not, our office accepts many forms of payment, including medical financing. Also be sure to ask our financial team about joining our Smiles Club membership program.
