"Was very impressed with their attention to making everyone feel safe before entering! Taking temperatures through the car window n asking questions regarding exposure to Covid! Then taking you directly to the exam room no waiting in the lobby! Felt really Safe! So excited that even though we had a lot of work ahead she made sure inbetween I had nice looking temporary teeth ! Her team is very efficient and caring! Also love the calm feeling in their office!"- M.H. / Google / Oct 02, 2020

"We recently moved to the area & I found Contemporary Dentistry via Yelp. I’m so glad I made the appointment! The staff and Dr. Jacobsen were so personable, thorough and caring. I expressed concern about the cold water that dentists shoot into your mouth while cleaning & how my teeth are really sensitive to the cold water. Well...they offered room temperature water! That’s a first and it totally changed the experience. I no longer dread the bi-annual cleanings! As a newbie to the Gilbert area, I highly recommend Dr. Jacobsen and her team. From the care to the reasonable prices, you’ll be relieved and grateful to make Contemporary Dentistry your own."- V.M. / Yelp / Sep 25, 2020
Best Candidates for Dental Implants
Dental implants can replace a missing tooth or teeth with an implant-support crown, bridge, or denture. You may want to consider a dental implant if you currently have a regular dental restoration, but are unhappy with the look, feel, or extra care needed. Implants can be cleaned for like your natural teeth, with regular brushing and flossing. During your dental implant consultation, Dr. Jacobsen will assess the health of your gums and jawbone in order to determine if a dental implant is a right option. If needed, a gum or bone graft may be completed before the implant is placed to ensure you have a strong enough foundation to support the post. You may not be a candidate for dental implants if you are pregnant, use tobacco products, or are currently being treated for an oral condition, like gum disease.
What To Expect from Dental Implants
Before the dental implant is placed, you may need to have damaged teeth extracted, gum grafts, or bone grafts. Once your mouth is ready for the dental implant, the treatment area will be numbed with a local anesthesia. Sedation can be added to help you feel more comfortable during the procedure. Dr. Jacobsen will make an incision in your gum and put the titanium post in the jawbone. The incision will be closed with part of the post visible above the gumline. This process will continue if multiple posts are needed. As the implant integrates with the bone and gum over the next few months, a temporary crown or cover will be used to protect the post. Once Dr. Jacobsen decides the dental implant is healed with your gums and jaw, the restoration (bridge, crown, or denture) will be attached to the post and adjusted for a good fit.
Recovery for Dental Implants
You may have some temporary swelling in your gums and face, as well as bruising, discomfort, and some minor bleeding following your dental implant surgery. Dr. Jacobsen will let you know how much of this is normal and when to contact our office. She may also prescribe pain medications and antibiotics. Once your implants have healed and your custom restoration has been attached, you should follow a good home oral care routine, including brushing, flossing, and mouthwash. You should continue to schedule an annual exam and bi-annual cleanings at our office so Dr. Jacobsen can assess your oral health. She will let you know if your implants or restorations need to be adjusted or replaced.
Insurance Coverage for Dental Implants
Depending on your dental insurance and specific coverage, some of the cost of your dental implant and restoration may be covered. Our office will contact your insurance to determine your benefits and calculate your costs. During your consultation with Dr. Jacobsen, she can help estimate your costs and tell you about payment methods accepted by our office, including medical financing and our Smiles Club membership.
